Week 2 Living Room

How did everyone's week 1 go? Mine was...STRESSFUL! As most of you know my grandmother went in for surgery on Monday, but ended up in ICU for the week. I am happy to report that she is now home and resting. Thank goodness! Even with all the craziness of hours and days at the hospital I still managed to get my week 1 challenge in...YAY for me! It really is amazing what touching up baseboards and walls with paint can do. I didn't think my place really looked that bad until I looked at the before and after pictures. I almost don't want to post them. LOL! But I love the clean feeling it gives me. I am really looking forward to this week's challenge. So here we go....

Week 2: Living Room
Remember to wash your windows, dust or wash any items on the walls, vacuum cushions on furniture, dust any wood furniture, clean and touch up paint on baseboards, clean coat closets.

Good luck and can't wait to hear how everyone is keeping up!

HouseHold Planner

I keep reading about Household Planners. Do you have one? I sure don't - man I need to get with the times!

Having a household planner will help with housekeeping from getting away from you. If you're like me, I lose track of the last time I cleaned under the oven, or vacummed under the couch. Using a household planner will easily track and evaluate the different aspects of home cleaning.

Using these 3 sites you can come up with a personalized blend of ideas that work best for you: http://www.fly.com/, http://www.organizedhome.com/, and http://www.simplemom.net/. For supplies you'll need a 3 ring binder, divider tabs and some paper. To keep things simple start with these 5 dividers -Calendars, Contacts, Cleaning, Cooking, and Planning. There are many other options, so go ahead and personalized it to fit your family. The basic idea of the binder is that if you were to get sick or go on vacation, anyone could step in and run your household using the planner.

Calendar - no mystery here. Keep a basic weekly plan and monthly pages for the upcoming year, a running to-do list, as well as a master list of important dats that recur yearly.

Contacts - A telephone list of important and frequently called numbers, calling lists for church, clubs, and sports teams, and a printout of your Christmas card mailing address list.

Cleaning - Your daily routines, your child's daily routines. A floor plan of you cleaning zones, as well as a detailed cleaning lists for each zone. Maybe the products you use as well.

Cooking - Keep at least a one-week meal plan, food storage investnory, list of healthy snacks, lunchbox ideas, and preprinted grocery lists.

Planning - Have a ten-year family timeline. For example, your class schedule plan to finish your bachelors degree, and notes on any projects you are working on or planning to work on, such as Christmas or vacation planning.

The binder would be a good place to keep an envelope in the back for receipts, just stuff them all in and sort them once a month or so.

You can fin a ton of free printable pages HERE to get your planner started.

Happy New Year

Hello to all my blogging friends and Happy New Year!! I hope your holidays were wonderful. My break was just what I needed. Some down time for me and tons of mommy/daughter time too.

With the holidays over and the new year upon us, what do we do with ourselves? VALENTINE'S DAY...it is kind of our next big holiday. Here is a piece of Valentine's Day Subway Art I put together.

Subway Art...definitely a big hit in 2010. The fabulous thing about subway art is that it offers personalization to any decor or gift. The possibilities are endless with the many themes and fonts you can choose from.
